July 2016 - Issue # 032 - 21 Ways to Lose Weight and Keep it Off

Hi Everyone. Welcome Back.

Most of us have tried a variety of diets and though many of them can work, they are usually only a temporary fix.

That's just so frustrating, to work so hard just to see those unwanted pounds come back again.

Here are some sure fire ways to help lose weight and even keep it off.

The best part is you can choose as many of these tips that suit your lifestyle as you want. Each tip will help with weight loss.

Portion size, Portion size, Portion Size

Portion size is key. The "super-size-me" attitude is so taxing on our bodies.

Larger meals than our bodies need just causes our liver to be over run with extra work, which leads to weight gain and fatigue.

Sometimes using smaller plates and drinking glasses can help.

Love Your Fresh Fruits

Food offers its highest level of nutrition when it's eaten raw. That is why fruit makes a great meal or snack.

In my eyes, natural fruits are one of the most perfect foods.

They take the least amount of time and energy to digest, yet gives you back many health benefits in return.

To get the most benefits from fruit, they should always be eaten alone or 20 minutes before any other food.

Love your Fresh Veggies

Same as with raw fruit, food offers its highest level of nutrition when eaten raw.

Enjoy Soups

Yes, we all know, I'm a huge believer that soups can be one of the biggest helpers when it comes to weight loss.

They pack a big punch when it comes to nutrition yet are super low in calories.

If you haven't yet checked out all our awesome homemade soup recipes here is the link - Homemade Soup Recipes

Avoid Eating Too Much Processed Foods

This ones a no brainer. Try and avoid processed foods such as fast food chains or meals that come out of a box or can.

In fact, meals you can prepare at home are usually much healthier than purchased meals.

Avoid Sugary Beverages That Offer No Nutritional Value

We know that water is the best drink for weight loss, but teas and coffees that are not loaded with sugar work too.

Healthy drinks are good (even if they have calories in them) such as coconut water, freshly made vegetable juice and smoothies as they can offer our bodies nutrition.

Please, try to avoid soda. Let's face it, sodas are a form of liquid candy that dump a huge amount of wasted calories into our bodies yet offer zero nutrients.

Lose the Booze or Choose Wisely

I love this picture and use it every chance I get.

We all need a little down time now and then and if you're one who likes a drink with your R & R then try to follow these guidelines.

Limit the size of the drink and the number of drinks. Also keep in mind the calories. Choose dry wines over sweet ones and use low calorie mixes for cocktails.

Eat Good Amounts of Fiber Daily

Fiber is an amazing weight loss tool and is also a great way to help keep your digestion regular.

Meals such as bean salads or bean soups are amazingly filling and nutritious.

Increase Your Protein Intake

Lean cuts of protein, not only help keep you feeling fuller longer, but they help increase calorie burning and help build muscle.

Choose Healthy Snacks

Don't Avoid Healthy Fats, Infact Embrace Them

Certain foods containing healthy fats can be extremely beneficial.

Foods such as avocados, fish, eggs, olive oil, nuts, seeds and others.

Stock only the healthiest processed foods

Not all processed foods (canned or boxed) are bad. There are some processed foods that can actually be healthy and handy when you're pressed for time.

Two of my favorites would be canned tuna and canned beans.

Even though these foods have been processed they can be a quick and healthy solution when meal planning.

Want something healthy in less than 2 minutes?

Add a can of drained tuna with a can of six bean blend and mix with a little Italian dressing. When in a time jam, this meal has saved me many times through the years.

Swap the White Breads for Breads such as Whole Wheat or Multi Grain Styles

Keep Your Cupboards and Fridge Void of Junk Foods

If all your food and snacks in the house are healthy (or pretty healthy), then it is practically impossible to eat junk.

Eat Meals With No Distractions or in a Stress Free Environment

Just like in France, no matter how small a meal, enjoy it to the fullest.

Savor every bite to make it last longer. Chew, chew, chew your food to make digestion easier.

Meal times should be looked at as a break, a relaxing break that helps you energize and refuel yourself.

Add Physical Activity Into Your Life

No matter how simple the activity is, it will always help with weight loss and improve your health too.

Play the Music You Love When Working Out

The tunes we like can really get us motivated. Dancing, running, lifting weights, whatever your thing, the right music can really move you.

Don't Take the Easy Way Out

Little things can make a big difference. Taking the stairs instead of the elevator when possible.

Also, if the distance is short, walk it, perhaps bike it, but try not to drive it (again when the situation allows).

Wear an Activity Tracker

Activity trackers can be motivating and fun when it comes to weight loss and fitness.

Prices change every day, usually for the better. It is always wise to investigate the features you want before purchasing one.

Keep a Journal for Motivation

It is important to write out your future goals so you know exactly what you want to achieve and how you're going to do it.

Remind yourself of the benefits you'll gain by sticking to your plan and always picture the happy outcome. (I call this my daily pep talk.)

Everyday set reasonable goals that will become long time achievements.

Don't Upgrade Your Wardrobe to Bigger Sizes (if you can help it).

Larger clothes will make us feel more comfortable to eat more.

If we try to reduce or maintain our weight to stay in the clothes we have, we may stay more motivated.
