September 2017 - Issue # 046 - Celebrity Diets - Which One Suits Your Lifestyle?
Happy Labor Day Weekend Everyone and Welcome Back
Whether they have to drop weight for a role in a movie, keep slim to walk down the fashion runway, perform effortlessly in a concert for their fans, or when you are the princess of England, celebrities have a multitude of ways to stay fit and trim.
There are so many diets that are created to help us lose pounds. Some achieve super-fast weight loss, while other methods are slow and steady. Some are healthy and some seem borderline harmful or extremely harsh.
Just as there are as many different people and needs, there are almost as many different weight loss approaches to get there.
Let’s take a look at what some of the celebrity diets are and see if they are worth doing.
Of course many celebrities will try more than one type of diet.
Dukan Diet – Princess Kate
Kate Middleton used the Dukan Diet to slim down before her Royal Wedding to Prince William.
The Dukan Diet originated in France and was created by Dr. Pierre Dukan. It’s a high protein, low fat, low carb diet. It offers healthy foods based on a selection of proteins and vegetables. The one big bonus of the Dukan Diet is that you can eat as much as you like.
It’s mainly meat and veggies. All diets high in protein help you burn calories and protein diets are great as long as they are not used long term.
Apple Cider Vinegar - Megan Fox
It’s not really a diet per say, just more of a healthy beverage added to your daily menu or routine.
Megan Fox loves to throw back a shot of apple cider vinegar in order to cleanse her system and to flush out unnecessary water retention. She also likes The 5 –Factor Diet (listed a little bit farther down the page) to keep trim.
Apple cider vinegar does offer some health benefits, but it’s no miracle tonic. To keep a desired weight you still have to eat healthy.
But drinking it straight seems a little extreme. I enjoy two teaspoons of the stuff in a glass of water before meals. I like it because one of the health benefits it offers is that it helps with digestion.
The Ancient Grains Diet – Angelina Jolie
This is the diet that helps this mother of six stay so trim. The diet includes ancient grains (also called heritage grains). They include quinoa, millet, chia seeds, amaranth, kamut, spelt and buckwheat, which have been around for thousands of years.
These so called heritage grains and seeds are very healthy. But no matter how creative and how many of your meals can be made with ancient seeds it is very important to balance the diet with items such as fruits and vegetables too.
The 5 Factor Diet – Eva Mendes, Megan Fox, Alicia Keys, Jessica Simpson
Harley Pasternak is a personal trainer and author of the 5 Factor Diet.
This diet is a diet plan combined with an exercise plan that bases all its components on the number five. For instance, it offers 5 meals a day, which only take five minutes to make and contain only five ingredients.
As for the exercise part, you should do 5 workouts a week, which will include 5 types of activity.
Your meals should be made up of the following 5 components. Protein, carbohydrates, fiber, healthy fat and a sugar free beverage.
It sounds healthy enough and easy enough, except I’m not sure how you can make a meal with only 5 minutes preparation time?
There is more detailed information you can get if you feel this plan is right for you.
The M – Plan Diet – Katy Perry
M stands for mushrooms. Katy eats a diet rich in mushrooms over a 14 day period. The diet promises to help women lose weight from their stubborn areas but still keep their bust the same size.
How does it work? You just replace one of your meals (either lunch or dinner) with a meal rich in mushrooms over a 14 day period.
This sounds easy and quick, but guaranteed that the two other meals you eat throughout the day would have to healthy for this diet to work.
The Beauty Detox Solution – Drew Barrymore, Fergie
To shed her baby weight, Drew has been using celebrity nutritionist Kimberly Snyder’s Detox Solution. This diet is a plant based diet that includes lots of juicing.
It goes into quite a bit of detail and seems like a fair bit of work. The plan goes through phases which eventually eliminates meat.
The diet also suggests certain supplements to help detox, such as probiotics, digestive enzymes and magnesium oxygen (as a laxative agent).
Along with juicers and perhaps other kitchen equipment it does sound time consuming and expensive.
Tracey Andersons Food Program – Jennifer Lopez, Gwyneth Paltrow
This program is not cheap. It claims to deliver the weight loss you desire as long as you combine the diet with Anderson’s workout methods as well.
Basically Anderson has created a nationwide food delivery program that helps offer healthy meals. It also offers a separate program for vegetarians.
Tracy Andersons Baby Food Diet –Jennifer Aniston, Lady Gaga, Gwyneth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon
This Diet is actually quite simple. It substitutes all meals and snacks throughout the day with baby food with the exception of one regular well balanced meal for the day (usually supper).
Most people do the diet for a one to two week period.
Every day you can consume 14 servings (each 4 oz.) of baby food or your own homemade pureed version.
Try to eat a wide variety of pureed fruits and vegetables to help increase nutritional intake. There is a plethora of baby foods to choose from and many are even organic.
Then enjoy any well balanced meal for supper such as a portion of steamed fish with a side of fresh salad and perhaps some vegetables (not pureed, hurray).
Again this is no long term solution, unless you prefer pureed foods.
Vegan Diet – Here is just a short list of the many celebrities that keep a vegan diet.
Liam Hemsworth
Woody Harrelson (a long time vegan)
Miley Cyrus
Ellen Page
Jessica Chastain
Alicia Silverstone
Joaquin Phoenix
Ariana Grande
Casey Affleck
Peter Dinklage
Pamela Anderson
Rooney Mara
Kate Mara
Al Gore
And there are many more.
What is a vegan diet?
A vegan diet contains only plant foods such as vegetables, grains, nuts and fruits. Vegans do not eat any foods that come from animals, including dairy products such as eggs.
This is a life time diet change.
Master Cleanse – Beyoncé
The master cleanse is a short term diet, more of a detox really.
>br>It’s an all liquid diet of freshly squeezed lemon juice, water and cayenne pepper that lasts for about 14 days. It allows 2 days to ease into it before starting, then 10 days of the liquid diet, followed by 2 days of easing back into eating solid foods.
This is a short term detox plan and a quick way to drop some extra unwanted pounds quickly.
This type of quick and drastic diet plans should only be attempted by people who have no health issues.
Alkaline Diet – Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Aniston, Kristen Dunst, Gwyneth Paltrow
The Alkaline Diet (The cookbook is “Eating the Alkaline Way”), is a diet rich in fruits and vegetables that helps keep the body’s pH balance between 7.35 and 7.45.
It helps create a menu in such a way that when you consume acid-forming foods such as dairy, pasta, meat and fish it is in such a way that offers a pH benefit to the body.
An alkaline friendly diet follows the 80/20 rule meaning more vegetables (the 80%) and less grains and proteins (the 20%).
You will need pH test strips (a test that involves peeing on a test stick) to monitor your pH levels.
It has never been proven that by keeping your pH levels between 7.35 and 7.45 have anything to do with successful weight loss.
This diet works because you are eating lots of healthy fruits and veggies, while eliminating poor food choices, no other reason.
Macrobiotic Diet – Madonna
This diet eliminates all wheat, eggs, meats and dairy.
Main foods of the diet include whole grains, veggies and beans. Secondary foods of the diet include fruit, oils, nuts, seeds, fish, teas and vegetable juices.
The plan also discourages the following foods: white, brown or refined sugar, artificial sweeteners, fruit juice, diary, caffeine, alcohol, white rice, and white flour, any type of preservatives, dye and refined oils.
The goal of this diet goes a little deeper than the average diet. It wants our bodies to get with the proper yin and yang for good health through food and diet. This is a diet plan that may need some investigation before you can decide if it’s the right choice for you.
Maintaining a healthy diet with the help of a nutritionist - Jonah Hill
Simply put Jonah maintained a healthy diet. He also kept a food journal that he shared with his nutritionist to help keep him on track.
Conclusion:
That all diets, no matter how short or long in duration, no matter how simple or complex they may be, all have the very same ingredients to achieve weight loss.
What are these common ingredients that make a diet plan successful?
Quite simply, it is the addition of healthy foods and the elimination of unhealthy ones.
Those are the two changes that make any diet successful.
Want to make any diet work better by dropping more pounds in a quicker amount of time?
Then add exercise to your daily routine on top of the diet you choose.
Of course for long term results, consistency (on a long term) is key.
